"Walk on the Beach"

Gouache on paper

20 x 30 cm (30x40)

2021

Nowhere do I go for such extensive walks as here on the beaches of Sylt. Walking, not hiking or even playing around. To feel the slowness of being, all alone with yourself, alone with your very own thoughts, uninfluenced by others. Here you can stroll for hours along this infinitely long and lavishly wide strip of sand. Look after the spray balls in the wind, watch how the constant wind plays with them, drives them this way and that and in the end blows them into a thousand small pieces. Spray, this conglomerate of water, salt, sand and air! Here I become a playful child, here I let myself go. Without a goal. Just strolling for the sake of strolling ......

"Trees on the Shore"

Gouache on paper

20 x 30 cm (30x40)

I just can't get enough of the hammer forge that I love so much by the lake, and I certainly can't get enough of it! You go a few steps further and you have a completely different and maybe even more beautiful view. Maybe just the incidence of light is a little different and there is a completely different mood! How happy I was this summer to have learned to paint with gouache from my painter colleague Angelika from the "painters of the barracks" in Backnang. A pleasure and artistic gain!

"On Skye"

Gouache on paper

20 x 30 cm (30x40)

2021

I took the photo that served as a template back in 2015 during a dream trip through Scotland with our close friends Ramona and Peter. To this day I can't get the sight of these headlands with all their surprising colors out of my head. And finally I painted it. The Isle of Skye is part of the Inner Hebrides and is truly breathtaking! Simply overwhelming. Behind every curve, behind every crest, the next surprise lurks and again a completely new look! We have now visited Skye for the third time, but we were thrilled as the first time!

"Beach"

Acrylic on canvas

70 x 120 cm

2021

I still needed a happy picture with water for my exhibition "More Sea" and so this painting was created with a photo from the Internet as the basic motif. It impresses with its cheerful brightness and - as I was confirmed during the exhibition - the viewer inevitably comes to dream of vacation, sea and distant beaches.

It should be exactly like this!!!

Back avenue by the lake

Light and shadow dominate this picture at Hammerschmiedesee. It is currently one of my two absolute favorite pictures and it was really difficult for me to sell it at the moment ... I have really learned to love painting with gouache in the meantime. I can use the brush as I am used to with oil or acrylic and, in contrast to watercolor, I paint opaque! And I really have the color white available as a color. It's just fun and I'm sure that many more pictures will follow with this medium. The luminosity - especially in the currently highest quality level of the Schmincke brand - is unbelievable and surprises me again and again.
