"At Tournissan"

Watercolor

30 x 40 cm

2000

This watercolor was created during a 1,300 km bike trip with our tandem, including trailer, tent and kitchen. A break was not always right for everyone involved, but one or the other artistic memory had to arise somehow and somewhere. This spot was one of the pleasant places. The avenue provided plenty of soothing shade in the relentless midday sun in Languedoc. I think you can guess the shimmering air and if you "listen" into the picture, you can hear the cicadas' canon!

"Benning"

Oil on canvas

40 x 50 cm

1994

I have a very special memory with this picture. It shows the Benning (356 m) at Grossbottwar.

It should have been the third or fourth time that I painted 'en plein air' in public space. I drove my car to my chosen location so as not to have to carry all the utensils. I was aware that I was disregarding a traffic sign that clearly forbids driving on motor vehicles. At some point I saw a suspiciously green car slowly driving in my direction in the corner of my eye. A man in uniform got out and came to me and said "Hello". My heart almost slipped into my trousers with a guilty conscience and already saw me pay a fine of 20 marks. Then, to my complete surprise, the policeman said: "May I look a little over your shoulder? I just started painting and I can definitely learn from you ..." As I said: I was a bloody beginner myself!

"View to the Mont Ventoux"

Acrylic on canvas

20 x 40 cm

2015

The picture was painted under the synonym "Auzon de Villes", here only briefly "de Villes". A little gimmick that I used that summer 2015. By far my favorite campsite in Provence is on the outskirts of the small village "Villes-sur-Auzon". I thought it would sound nice if I just reversed the place name and created an artist name from it. The small-format picture hangs today in the caravan of Peter and Linda, an English couple who also keeps coming to this place. I gave it to my English friend; also because he ist such an enthusiastic and so fantastic Kubbplayer.....

"Rocher de Cyr"

Acrylic on canvas

50 x 70 cm

2012

Not far from the Gite d'étape de Saint-Hubert there is a wonderful view from the south over the Nesque Gorge, the Gorges de la Nesque. In the meantime, golden eagles have also settled here again. On some days you can see who they are making their majestic circles high above the gorge.

"Country outing at Saint-Estève"

watercolor

30 x 40 cm

2004

One of my favorite watercolors at one of my favorite places: This wonderful view of Mont Ventoux, past the oak tree over all the vineyards and olive groves ..... In the background you can see the steep road as it leads up the little hill to the top to open the wide view over Villes-sur-Auzon. This road is steep and difficult, especially since it often represents the final chord of a wonderful bike ride. This picture signals me vacation, rest and enjoyment!
