"Thunderstorm in the Gorges de la Nesque"

Acrylic on canvas

30 x 100 cm

2020

It is in Provence. The Gorges de la Nesque that leads from Villes-sur-Auzon towards Sault. The gorge begins directly at our campsite and ends after 19 km about 500m higher. Only at one point approx. 5%, otherwise usually only 1 or 2% gradient. So a wonderful cycling route !!! As a rule, we arrive and drive them for the first time immediately after assembly. It is also a wonderful start to a climb to Mont Ventoux. Is then the "easiest" of all four ways to the summit. At the end of the gorge at the top of the "Belvedere" you may continue to drive gently down into the valley and dive more and more into lavender ...

By the way: Golden eagles have been nesting on the "Roc de Cire" - seen on the right in the picture - for some time now!

"At the hammer mill"

Acrylic on canvas

60 x 80 cm

2020

The corona pandemic is keeping the world in suspense. Thousands of people lose their lives and ours is worried about the endangered opening date of this year's camping season at our favorite lake. Is actually ridiculous given the current and never thought possible existential scenario! And yet after months of "daring" we feel a deep longing for freedom, for romantic campfires, sun and somewhere also the community with our camping friends there! The world without camping does not collapse right now, but it is then a different one ......

Here, at this place of longing, the world is somehow still in order. Worries, if there are any, are left at home when you drive here. I live on the edge of the Stuttgart bacon belt and am always surrounded by traffic and a certain level of noise all day long. When I am here, the first thing that strikes me is this wonderful calm. Of course not in high season, not on the few days when the space here is really full and quasi "the bear is quilting". But that's the case during the week and always in the off-season. And I can take a deep breath here! Hopefully again soon!

"On the pale meadow"

Acrylic on canvas

40 x 60 cm

2020

The picture shows the view from the bleaching meadow in Backnang to the old town with the city tower. Magnificent weeping willows line the Murr here, on the shores of which Backnang's tanners used to do their work. The name of this area in the heart of the city comes from this period. A large car park during the year, but once a year, at the end of June, the fairground of the oldest street festival in Germany. From here you have this pretty view and in the meantime, as part of the inner city renovation and above all the expansion of the flood protection, large stairs have been built, which now make it possible to get to the water. Of course, the stairs in summer also invite many people to take a seat on the steps here to rest, relax or just have a chat.

"Borie in the Lavender Field"

Acrylic on canvas

80 x 60 cm

2020

How many times have I driven on this mountain? Multiple from all sides, including the old Muliweg. And I've blown him up twice already. I will never forget how the world champion overtook me in reverse in my first run shortly after Chalet Reynard ....... Incredible! And very frustrating on top of that!

This Mont Ventoux, the Géant de Provence, simply dominates the whole of Provence. There is hardly an angle from which the Ventoux cannot be seen.
Here, at the beginning of the Toulerenc valley, it towers high above lavender fields and a borie, a stone shelter in many fields. I painted the picture and also ended it during the corona pandemic. To be precise, I did the last brush stroke on March 18, 2020. I painted it after a photo template on the iPad with small specifications.

"Spring forest"

watercolor

24 x 36 cm

2020

These days we started the topic forest in the course at Sibylle Bross. We should paint more freely there, so also more abstract. But today I fell back into "old behavior patterns". I'm still too attached to the object, can't really separate myself from what I've seen. But that's why I'm a participant in this painting class.

So yesterday and today I tried this topic twice. The first time it was more or less the continuation of the watercolor work in Atelier Bross last week. I painted the second picture (shown here) with watercolor paints. And I have to say that I really like the result. I also wrote to a friend today: "I could carry myself out of the studio again today!".

And I can feel my rage again .... I feel like painting again !!!
